Sex education ‘should be included in schools’
Luh Putu Anggraeni, deputy chairwoman of the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, said sex education needed to be included in the curriculum of national schools to ensure students learn about the birds and the bees in a focused and regulated manner.
Sex education, which deals with many important issues such as reproductive health, physical and emotional impacts of relationships and sociocultural issues, Anggraeni explained, could be taught as part of a teenage counseling program.
“Teenagers surely feel embarrassed and reluctant to ask any sex-related questions,” she said.
